Setting Up PAYE on your online Government Gateway account
Your online Government Gateway account provides you with added control over your PAYE profile, including managing Direct Debit details, something accountants and agents are not able to manage or access from their HMRC agent login.You’ll need both your PAYE Employers Reference number, as well as the longer Accounts Office Reference number to activate the PAYE.
Getting started:
1. Log into your business’ online Government Gateway account.
If you don’t have an active account, you can also use the link above set up an account.
2. On the landing page, select the 'get online access to a tax, duty, or scheme’ option.
3. Next, select the first option on the list of taxes available, which includes PAYE.
4. This will take you to the list below, where PAYE itself can be selected.
5. Next, you will be asked to confirm whether you are registered for and have your PAYE references.
6. Below is the page for providing HMRC with your PAYE details.
7. If HMRC are happy with the details provided, the next screen will confirm that you’ve requested PAYE activation, and to await the activation code in the post.
